Wrapping up 2023
Far too many end of the year postings out there, so I will cut this short: Thank you. What for? For making my 2023 one of the most exciting and enriching ones of my life.
At first glance, it was the courageous endeavors I embarked on, which made my year so moving. My first book, some wild moves with my sports brand Willpower, Das Z Letter, Das Z Sprachnachricht, but also training, racing and a dramatic injury comeback.
But looking at all these projects more closely, they have one thing in common. All of them were about connecting with other people.
About dialogue, explicit and unspoken.
About feeling the same, but drawing different conclusions.
About sharing equal views and fighting over others.
About meaning the same thing, but using different words to express it.
About running side by side, but experiencing a thoroughly different sensation.
In essence, this past year showed that the most profound moments were those when individual journeys blended. I am deeply grateful for these connections with others. With you.
And what about 2024?
I spoke to my best man Chris today. I told him that the older I get (as of today, I’m 44 years old), the better I know what I want to do with my life. And I am not speaking of things that solely give me good feelings for a moment. I am speaking of the things that I will remember joyfully, when I am lying on my deathbed.
These things have started showing their realness much more clearly, since I found the person with whom I want to spend the rest of my life with. With Lisa by my side, I feel anchored. I feel blessed. And I feel like I have already attained everything I could have ever asked for. Everything beyond is a bonus.
In other words: in 2024 I will pursue projects that I aim to remember, preferably forever.

My favorite isn't even on the top-5 list... last week's Das Z Letter on UTMB is my personal fav. Here's to 2024!
