In a previous Das Z [+] Letter, I wrote about running alone. As a runner, I was sort of born with it because in my early years of running, I didn't know anyone who shared the same passion. At least no one I would have wanted to run with. That all changed when I founded my own running brand, Willpower.
Even though I had resigned myself to the idea that I alone would end up wearing all the running shirts I produced (fortunately, I was wrong), a new circle of friends quickly formed around Willpower. This group of extremely quirky and lovable runners called and call themselves "Willpower Athletes" and have remained my most important reference group to this day. Over the years, we have shared countless beautiful running moments together. Running in a community is a wonderful experience. And here’s why.
The exchange.
During, before or after the run. Talking to other runners about the sport is awesome. What else is there to talk about if not your passion? It doesn't matter if you're just satisfying your need to communicate or if you're gaining new insight, learning, teaching and sharing. Talking with other runners makes your own running experience much more intense.
