The Wrong Side Of The Tracks
These are troubled times. We do understand that the current situation can be confusing and disturbing and we totally agree, that the political management of the pandemic could be done better here and there. We especially feel solidarity with the people who suffer from government regulations, may it be financially, socially or emotionally.
What we do not support, however, are the so-called "Querdenker" protests, which currently take place in various german cities. These demonstrations might be mistaken for harmless gatherings of a few nutcases, who ignore science and common sense, but the threat is much bigger than that. Since day one of the pandemic right-wing politics and alt-right activist groups have infused these protest to bring forward their reactionary and hateful agenda. We have to acknowledge that these events are highly destructive for our societal cohabitation and democratic values.
Or to put it in a very simple way: You do not march the streets side by side with neo-nazis, fascist hooligans or anti-Semites. No matter what has made you protest in the first place, if you do this, you have chosen the wrong side.
To stand strong and united against any form of discrimination and hatred, that's what "Run Down Racism" is all about.
