WSER - Not Starting From Scratch
198 days until WSER
Half-way through my first training week for WSER I found out, that it is actually my 6th week already. On November 1st I began to lay down the groundwork of what was supposed to become a road marathon training eventually.
Groundwork… yes, that’s what it is. Since I started running in 2013, I never had a phase in which I trained at lower to medium efforts for longer than… maybe a week? I love running fast, I love intervals, I love short races up to 10k. So here I am in my 6th week of either full on recovery runs or 4/10 effort rolling hills workouts with an occasional mountain adventure or long run thrown in. So my week is diverse but does not include any fast running. Oh, except for stride. I love strides.
I kinda got lost… What I wanted to say is that what I did in training since the beginning of November perfectly fits my 100-mile goal which unexpectedly replaced my road marathon ambitions. If I remember correctly, this is my last week of groundwork and the next training phase is about to begin soon.
