This is me close to the finish line of my first race. It was the 10k distance of the Munich Marathon in 2013. I am posting this suffer-face photo every once in a while to demonstrate the following:
It’s always hard. No matter if you’ve just started running or train like a semi-pro for years, racing always can put you on the brink of what is mentally and physically bearable. And far beyond.
It’s (almost) always fun. Even though this photo (and many others of its kind) does not look like what is colloquially known as ‚fun‘ (smiling, chilling, dancing, … that kind of stuff), it is. The thrill of giving your best and the deep gratitude, when things fall into place, not to speak of the legendary 'afterwards feeling' are absolutely wonderful experiences.
Headphones have come a long way since 2013.
This was the most unpretentious outfit I could find in 2013. Two years later I founded Willpower for exactly this reason.
The finish of the Munich Marathon inside of the Olymic Stadium (yes, also the 10k and half marathon runners finish there) is one of a kind.
I miss racing.
